For anyone who is inspired by old-timers and Austria’s mountains, there is actually only one thing - an ‘Oldie’ drive on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road! Those mellow twists and turns! Those gentle inclines and declines! Every metre of the 48 kilometres well thought through in sensitive harmony with the mountains! Planned and constructed almost 90 years ago by engineer Franz Wallack. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road, a masterpiece of road engineering, still sets the hearts of pleasure drivers and old-timer pilots racing today.

An excursion in an historic car or convertible has nothing to do with hurrying or stress. Take the bends at a leisurely pace on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road on a route covering 48 km in total from Fusch/Ferleiten to Heiligenblut, or the other way round. Numerous exhibitions, educational and panoramic paths, as well as refreshment stop options along the road provide plenty of variety – for those all-important breaks in between times, for driver and car alike. The highlight of every Glockner Oldie tour is without any doubt the view to the majestic Grossglockner and the Pasterze! In the highest automobile exhibition in Austria on Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe automobile history comes to life, when you encounter the first automobile conquerors of the Alpine road from the year 1934 and many other old-timer highlights from the past 120 years in their original format.

Meet the oldies: at the old-timer tractor meet-up & co.Things are somewhat more rustic and variety-packed every year in September in Bruck/Fusch at the old-timer tractor meet-up, which includes the world championships. For many years around 500 tractors from more than ten nations take part in this vintage vehicle meet. The high point of the multi-day event is the drive together on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road from Fusch/Ferleiten, up to Fuscher Törl. Marvel at powerful machines by Magirus Deutz, Steyr, Land Bulldogs, Hanomag, Fendt and many other legendary manufacturers.
